Maybe this has already been addressed somewhere else, or there's already a policy on all this, but I didn't see it. In any case, I was wondering how video games will be handled and played at SPT, both casually and tournament/group-wise. I had just a couple questions: Casually: - Will we need to reserve some combination TV and game system?
- Is there some dedicated "video game" TV(s)/room(s)/area(s)?
- Can we "loan" or "donate" systems/games/accessories to SPT?
Tournament/Group: - Will there be some kind of Wi-Fi/wired Ethernet connection for systems to have online/network play?
- Will there be some kind of regional/group video game affiliation (i.e. Major League Gaming) for tournaments?
- Will we need bring our own copies of games, controllers, and harddrives/memory cards to play on SPT systems?
Thanks for your time!

Great questions! I'll do my best to address them, with the understanding that this element is still in some flux. Casually: •Will we need to reserve some combination TV and game system? You won't have to, but we may institute the ability to do so. Undecided still.•Is there some dedicated "video game" TV(s)/room(s)/area(s)? Definitely! The entire front area of the building (a closed off room of around 1000 sqft) will be a video game area. The plan is to have 3 or so of each next-gen system represented.•Can we "loan" or "donate" systems/games/accessories to SPT? This one we're not too sure about yet. Accessories are likely to be fine, but systems and games present more of a problem. We might allow it with a damage waiver signed (bring at own risk). Anyone who wants to donate something we'll gladly entertain and see if we have room for it. Tournament/Group: •Will there be some kind of Wi-Fi/wired Ethernet connection for systems to have online/network play? Absolutely, the best we can possibly get.•Will there be some kind of regional/group video game affiliation (i.e. Major League Gaming) for tournaments? We'd love to do so if people have an interest in this.•Will we need bring our own copies of games, controllers, and harddrives/memory cards to play on SPT systems? I don't think so. The only thing people will probably bring on a regular basis are gamesticks for fighting games, I imagine.

I would like to suggest upwards of 5, semi decent computers, placed in such a position as to resemble a bridge to a space ship. With Star Citizen coming out, and games like Quintet out already it would be a nice place to gather some people, jump into a ship and do some stuff.
Quintet is a FREE steam game in which a ship can have up to 5 people flying, and covering different stations. Also it has abilities to control gaming lights / mood lighting. So when the ship takes damage, or goes into red alert, or fires weapons, different light que's can be sent to lighting systems to add immersion to the players.
People see 4 others having fun and want to join in, they walk to the 5th computer and are welcomed by those playing, they sit down, and now you have a Savepoint ship flying around destroying fools.

Sounds like an interesting game.
I'd definitely be for getting a small group of 5 or 6 computers up and LAN'd together. Having a mini LAN center inside SPT would definitely be an attractive feature for a lot of PC gamers looking to get out and meet other fellow PC gamers. I had countless positive experiences at the one LAN center I went to on Sunrise Blvd in Citrus Height (XFire) when it was open. Fragging is always fun. :-)

one thing I remembered most from my time in the navy was the organizing and playing of Quake arena (i'm old) At our little lan bar, on base. we could drink beers, play quake it was nice. I got in trouble though, because I was using internet explorer to access the C drive of the computer I was on, (a backdoor way, when they had explorer locked down) and I installed various new maps and what not. I taught them how to close the IE access, but they still banned me from the site. It wen't under a while later since people stopped going to the gaming tournaments, when there was only one map.
